Our Story
Hussain's Table started its journey on March 17th, 2020, during COVID-19, when all soup kitchens shut down and our underprivileged community in downtown Houston had no source of food or water. By the grace of Allah SWT, every day for three months, our team was on the ground under dangerous conditions, serving over 300 people with fresh food and water, Alhamdulillah.After COVID-19, we continued the program. Our young volunteers continue to serve over 350 people every Saturday, rain or shine or snow.
The Vision
Our vision is to spread the message of social justice and to promote an equitable and just society through service and compassion, particularly towards the underserved communities in our hometown, Houston.This project has been serving the local homeless community and providing opportunities for Houstonians to: - Become part of a platform to spread the message of humanity through living and establishing the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet and the Ahl e Bait AS. - Make a positive impact on mainstream society and encourage community involvement by serving fresh, hot, and healthy meals on a weekly basis. - Actively participate in the project by donating and volunteering with friends and family.To continue this project, we invite active community participation. We serve over 350 hot meals to the homeless every Saturday. We welcome one-time donations, including sadqa, charity in Ramadan, and other forms of giving. Time commitment is crucial; we invite everyone—seniors, youth, families, and friends—to join our volunteer team. Giving your time is a rewarding form of charity, and we welcome all who wish to contribute, even if just to observe.
